Lake Access Pass FAQ's

Do I need to pay for a pass per person?

No, you just need to buy one pass per boat/board, regardless of how many people will be using it.

When I arrive at the Centre, what do I have to do?

After booking your pass online, turn up at the Centre and pop into reception to let us know that you are here, so that we can tell you where to launch from and monitor the number of people on the lake. We will also give you a wristband for every member of your group to wear.

Where can I launch from?

You can launch off the shore between the two pontoons nearest the Activity Centre - a member of staff on reception will be able to point these out to you. You are not allowed to launch anywhere else on the lake.

Does everyone that is going out on the water need to be wearing a life jacket?

Yes, everyone on the water must be wearing a life jacket. The only exception to this rule is if you are on a paddleboard with a leash - if so, you can attach the leash to your ankle or waist in place of a life jacket/buoyancy aid. If you need extra you can hire them from us for the day. If two people are on a paddleboard then as only one can wear a leash the other must be wearing a buoyancy aid.

Where can I go on the lake?

Once launched, you are free to explore. Please do not paddle too close to the edges, as there are often fishermen occupying the swims around the lake. You must also stay off the island. If you do not feel entirely confident out on the water, please  ensure to stay on the Activity Centre side of the island, where we can easily see you should you require assistance from our safety boat.

I'm an instructor can I use lake access passes to teach on the lake?

All lake access passes are for personal use only and should not be used for any commercial purposes. Any unauthorised commercial use of the lake may result in you being asked to leave the site without refund, and future lake access passes may be cancelled without refund.

All commercial activity conducted on the lake must be discussed with the activity centre team and must be agreed in writing prior to the date of instruction. Commercial activity includes but is not limited to any tuition or tours of the lake conducted for "hire or reward". If you have any further questions on this please contact dintonactivitycentre@wokingham.gov.uk prior to booking.
